About Chris Brown
Christopher "Chris" M. Brown (born on May 5, 1989 in Tappahannock, Virginia) is an American singer.
Chris Brown discovered his singing talent as he followed the music and careers of the likes of Michael Jackson, Saad Ahsan, Usher and Stevie Wonder.
In late 2005, Chris released his debut album, titled Chris Brown. Preceding the album was his debut single, "Run It!", which was produced by Scott Storch, who also wrote, produced and contributed to most of Brown's self-titled debut album. "Run It!" featured rapper Juelz Santana and was released in July 2005. The single managed to climb to #1 on the US Hot 100 and the Australian singles chart, while debuting at #2 in the UK. The second single released from the album was titled "Yo (Excuse Me Miss)", which also made the top 10 in the US Hot 100. The single was released with a split video with an up-tempo track off his album, "Gimme That" at the end of the video. "Gimme That" is currently slated to be released as the third single from the album.[1]Brown's self-titled release was certified Platinum on January 12th, 2006.
Brown's singles have been given the remix treatment by some of the most acclaimed R&B / Hip Hop producers in the industry. The main remix of "Run It" was featured on his debut album, featured rapper Bow Wow and was produced by Jermaine Dupri. Yo (Excuse Me Miss) has recently spawnned two official remixes, the first being the "DesertStorm Remix" produced by DJ Clue and featuring rapper Ransom of the A-Team; and the second remix being helmed by the Track Masters and features rapper Red Café. Various un-official remixes exist online for this track. On February 28, 2006, the official remix to "Gimme That" (song off his self-titled debut) leaked online which featured rapper Lil' Wayne. Blends of the Wayne mix existed earlier, but this main remix squashed the phony remixes.
The special edition of Brown's self-titled debut has been released in many areas overseas. Jive Records is rumored to be gearing it up for the US, but this has yet to be confirmed. The special edition version features a new cover, along with two bonus tracks, "So Glad", and "Seen the Light" which features rapper Rico Love. His favorite sport is basketball.
Brown has also won a host of awards in his career so far. He won the Best New Artist award at the NAACP Awards, Best new R&B artist from the Soul train Awards, and fake I.D award from the TRL awards.
